摘要

The present invention relates to a novel process for preparing zinc based coating comprised of mixing of zinc powder of size ranging between to 2 to 10 µ wherein the spherical shape ranges between 70 to 90% and lamellar shape ranges between 10 to 30%. The coating is formulated by incorporating organic polymeric binder such as Polyvinyl butyral and polystyrene dissolved in organic solvent such as mixture of Xylene, ethoxy ethanol, butoxy ethanol, ethoxy butanol or similar solvents having very low dielectric constant. The incorporation of the above mentioned pigments help in formation of a protective layer on zinc surface and increase the percolation of the zinc particles, thus effectively increasing the life of the coating and the coated structures. The coating is cost effective and expected to provide longer durability to steel rebars in contact of concrete pore solution.
