The invention relates to a microcontroller based firing carddevice for power control of electrostatic precipitator comprisinga microcontroller (4) having input validation means including anerror detection means (5) and connected to an ouput means of theESP - controller, the microcontroller (4) receiving pulse-widthmodulated signals (PWM - 1, PWM - 2) from the ESP - controllerand generating firing pulses, a pair of output pulse transformer(6) connected to the output of the microcontroller (4), andfeeding controlled power to the ESP; and a pair of thyristorvalves (7) capable of being alternatively fired corresponding tosuccessive positive and negative half-cycles in pulse - widthmodulated input signals (PWM - 1, PWM - 2) detected by themicrocontroller (4) including detection of the state relating toabsence or presence of any one of the input signals (PWM - 1,(PWM-2).
