The present invention refers to a process for the production of bioethanol as fuel using plants of the Agavaceae family, as a raw material, which contain carbohydrates that may be transformed, by fermentation, distillation and dehydration, into ethanol, having suitable characteristics to be used as biofuel or additive in gasoline. The addition of dehydrating membranes to the process promotes an energy balance.
