The hull or shell is double-skinned with vertical walls defining pontoon compartments (3) that are closed on the top side and open on the bottom side to allow the surrounding water to enter. An enclosed pressurized airspace is formed inside the compartment, located above the water level in this compartment. This airspace acts as a water displacement space extending over the entire length of the vessel (1). Pressure can be maintained inside the airspace by compressors, providing the vessel with buoyancy.
