Disclosed is a composition comprising clothianidin, and at least one of benalaxyl M and metalaxyl M. This composition has a synergistic relationship for controlling animal pests. It can be used for treating seed. Other compositions are also disclosed in the specification which are combinations of a neonicotinoid, such as thiacloprid, dinotefuran, or acetamiprid, and one of benalaxyl M or metalaxyl M. These compositions are also described for controlling animal pests and for treating seed.
