With valves 10 and 14 closed to isolate machine 9 (typically a transformer) during regeneration of an adsorbent filter unit 13, valves 5 and 6 are opened to allow pump 11 to pump fluid from regeneration unit 19 and through the filter unit. The contaminated fluid then returns to the regeneration unit for contaminant removal. The pressure and flow rate through the filter unit are maintained to ensure minimal damage to the filter unit.
