A system for enhancing literacy development is disclosed. The system incorporates at least one activity of a. at least one means for displaying or informing on one or more of a predefined phonic or phonic family groups; and b. at least one game for practicising or learning by using the one or more of the predefined phonic or phonic family groups. The selected predefined phonic or phonic family groups are taken from a plurality of phonic family groups defined by one of i) each letter has a name; ii) each letter makes a sound; and iii) the sound can be associated with two elements with a first element being the graphophonic movement of the mouth teeth and lips produced as a result of making a sound and a second element being the association of a sound with simple and commonplace items.
