Disclosed is a method for judging stages between an active phase and a non-active phase of interstitial pneumonitis comprising the steps of: Setting as a base value a value of PGE-MUM concentration in urine obtained by measuring PGE-MUM contained in urine of patients diagnosed as being in a non-active phase of interstitial pneumonitis said non-active phase having been induced by administration of anti-inflammatory drugs; and judging that the interstitial pneumonitis is in the active phase when the value of PGE-MUM concentration in urine of the patients is in a range exceeding the base value, and that the interstitial pneumonitis is in the non-active phase when the value of PGE-MUM concentration in urine of the patients is in a range of not more than the base value.
