The invention relates to a protective helmet (1) of the type comprising an outer shell and a piece (16a, 16b) for attaching a breathing mask (11) fixed to the shell and comprising means for adjusting the position of the attaching piece, said adjusting means having a first succession of protrusions (17), which are joined to the shell (2) and which cooperate with a first succession of hollow profiles (18) made in the attaching piece. The protective helmet is characterized in that the adjusting means also have a succession of complementary protrusions (18'a, 18'b, 18'c, 18'd, 18'e, 18'f) each made on the wall separating two successive hollow profiles (18a-18b, 18b-18c, 18c-18d, 18d-18e) in the attaching piece and cooperating with a succession of complementary hollow profiles (17'a, 17'b, 17'c, 17'd, 17'e, 17'f, 17'g, 17'h) made at least between two protruding profiles (17a, 17b, 17c) joined to the shell (2) or an intermediate piece (16c) that, itself, is joined to the shell.
