The present invention relates to a method of funcionalizau00c7u00c3o of wool with L - cisteu00cdna, for obtaining an effect of bio - active antibacterial, permanent, applicable in textile materials biomu00c9dicos, geriu00c1tricos and paediatric. This innovation is, preferably, used for finishing protein fibres such as wool.The process consists of the application of L - cisteu00cdna at fibers of wool, by processes of depletion, with proven bactericidal effect on Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumonia. The inhibition of growth and bactericidal effect of the strains mentioned above were verified according to the Standard JIS. 1902 - 2002.The fenu00d3meno inhibition of bacterial growth occurs via the increase of thiol groups (HS -) free, the fiber of wool treated with the aminou00c1cido L - cisteu00cdna. Those groups were determined quantitatively using the Ellman reagent or ditio acid bis - (2 - nitrobenzu00d3ico) (DTNB) according to procedures described in the literature.
