The invention relates to a process for determining the formaldehyde emission from wood-based plates. According to the invention, the process consists in determining the flask value Fv expressed in milligrams of formaldehyde emitted by a kilogram of dry plate corresponding to a specimen pack having a mass of 20 g, through the flask method, where the specimens are equidistantly placed at a distance of 1 km, there resulting a maximum potential of formaldehyde emission through all the surfaces of the specimens in the pack.
