The invention relates to an equipment for depolluting the atmospheric air in open spaces of urban agglomerations with intense motor vehicle traffic. According to the invention, the equipment has five functional sections : the section I which comprises some suction ports for the exhaust gas, placed at the level of the passable portion of the road and some proximity sensors (SP, SP...SP), section II which comprises the piping for connecting the suction ports with a collecting unit, section III which comprises some electric valves (VF, VF...VF) selecting the active paths to the collecting unit and some pressure transducers (TP,TP...Tp) measuring the pressure on said paths, section IV which comprises the collecting unit, and section V which comprises a rotary blower (S), a driving electric motor (M) with variable speed, a filter (F), a speed transducer (TN), a differential pressure transducer (AD), and an electronic control and automation system consisting of an adder (S1) of the pressure transducers (TP,TP...Tp), a distribution regulator (R1), an adder (S2) of the proximity sensors (SP, SP...SP) and a speed regulator (R2) of the motor (M).
