A method for assessing the effects of the pharmaceuticals on the regional systolic function of the left ventricle in the patients with the acute myocardial infarction comprises the examination of the regional systolic function of the left ventricle prior to and after administration of the pharmaceutical followed by the comparison of the values obtained. The basal ejection fraction is measured for two septal, to apical, and two posterior lateral areas. The maximal ejection rate is then calculated for each area. The affected areas are delineated. After the administration of the pharmaceutical, the corresponding parameters are measured in the affected areas. When the values for ejection fraction and the maximal ejection rate in the affected area increase by at least 20 % after the administration of the pharmaceutical, the effect of the pharmaceutical under study on the regional systolic function of the left ventricle is considered as positive one.
