Procedure for the production of a multi-layer artificial leather, active in breathing, with a support layer (3) made from a textile laminar structure, with at least one intermediate layer (2, 5) applied on the layer of support (3), which is made on the basis of a whipped polyurethane foam at least partially of open cells, as well as on the covering layer (1) made on the basis of a polyurethane, which has been applied on the at least one intermediate layer (2, 5), being realized, in a first stage, that the covering layer (1) is applied on a removable base layer (6), and is consolidated, then the at least one intermediate layer (2, 5) is applied on the covering layer (1) and then the support layer (3) is placed on the at least one intermediate layer (2, 5), and the base layer is detached from the layer of covering (1), characterized in that for the formation of the covering layer (1), an aqueous dispersion of an aliphatic polyurethane is applied in liquid form on the base layer (6) and immediately after the application of the polyurethane dispersion, the water content thereof is evaporated by heat input in the course of a time interval of less than 5 s, such that drying takes place without the formation of any film of the polyurethane dispersion on the base layer (6), mediating the formation of the covering layer (1 ) with micro-pores.
