A device (10) of bone marrow biopsy comprising: a handle (12); a cannula (16) secured to the outside handle, the outer cannula defining a distal tip (29) having a distal cutting edge; a stylet (14) adapted to be inserted into the outer cannula, the stylet defining a tip (30) distal sharpened; and a member (18) therein having a distal end defining a finger (45) cutting, said cutting finger comprising a bevelled distal tip (50) and sharp edges characterized in that the inner member further has an open semi-cylindrical configuration with a semicircular along its entire length to the distar beveled tip cross section, because the distal tip of the outer cannula is tapered to direct the cutting finger inwardly, and in that the inner member is adapted to be inserted into the outer cannula and rotated with respect thereto to cause the cutting finger to shear a biopsy specimen retained in the outer cannula.
