The invention provides new methods for the treatment of diabetes mellitus,including type I, type II, and insulinresistant diabetes (both type I and type II). The methods of the inventionemploy administration of rhIGF-I/IGFBP-3 complex toa subject suffering from the symptoms of diabetes mellitus. Administration ofrhIGF-I/IGFBP-3 to a subject suffering from thesymptoms of diabetes mellitus results in amelioration or stabilization of thesymptoms of diabetes.
