EVALUATION OF THE POTENTIAL RISK OF DRUG TOXICITY OR SIDE-EFFECTS BASED ON QUANTITATIVE EXPRESSION OF ADAR EDITING ENZYMES AND 5HT2CR ISOFORMS
The present invention relates to in vitro methodsfor the determination of thepotential toxicity of test compounds.The invention also comprises in vitro methods for the selection oftherapeutical compounds useful for the treatment of pathologyrelated to an alteration of the mechanism of the mRNA editing of ADARdependent A to I mRNA editing of the serotonin 2Cre-ceptor (5HTR2C). Finally, the present invention is directed to the kits andtools for the implementation of these methods. Thein-vention is of special utility in the pharmaceutical industry for analysisof the toxicity profile or the screening of compoundsin-volved in drug development and/or in pharmaceutical compositions.
