HAND-HELD TOOL, AND METHOD FOR DETECTING EJECTION OF FASTENING ELEMENT AND ADAPTED FOR THE HAND-HELD TOOL

A hand-held tool capable of detecting whether or not a fastening element has been ejected or of detecting the kind of a fastening element having been ejected, and a method of detecting ejection of a fastening element.  The method determines in Step 122 whether or not a detected signal represents blank firing, and then determines, in Steps 130 and 134, following Step 126, whether or not a detected signal represents an actual firing pattern (1-4).  The method can discriminate between actual firing and non-actual firing (such as blank firing) and can also indentify the kinds of screws (screws having different lengths).  Also, because firing is counted for each blank firing or each kind of screw, use conditions of a screw driver from the time of purchase can be known.
