The invention relates to a tapered roller bearing (1) and to a method for assembling the same. The tapered roller bearing (1) substantially consists of an outer bearing ring (2) and an inner bearing ring (3) and a plurality of tapered rollers (4) arranged between said bearing rings (2, 3). The tapered rollers have two respective lateral faces (5, 6) that are symmetrically flattened from a basic spherical shape and that are maintained at a constant distance to each other in the peripheral direction by a window-type cage (7). Each cage pocket (8) of said window-type cage has the entire contour of each cross-sectional contour (9, 10) of a tapered roller (4), said cross-sectional contour arranged alongside and at a right angle to the peripheral direction.
