An adjustable trial knee prosthesis device comprises a femoral component (6) and a tibial component (7), adapted to interact with each other, wherein the femoral component (6) comprises a base plate part (61), adapted for the attachment to a distal end (E, F) of a femur (2); an articulation part (63), adapted for the interaction with the tibial component (7) over essentially the whole range of natural bending angles of a knee joint; and adjustment means for adjusting the translational and/or rotational displacement of the articulation part (63) in regard to the base plate part (61). In an advantageous method for positioning a knee prosthesis, in a first step a femoral component (6) of a trial knee prosthesis device with a an articulation part (63) and a base plate part (61 ) is mounted on a distal end (E, F) of a femur (1), and a tibial component (7) of a trial knee prosthesis device with an articulation part (72, 72') and a base plate part (71) is mounted on a proximal end (D) of a corresponding tibia (2).
