A three-step screening comprising a screening based on the resistance against the infection by a pathogenic bacterium, a screening based on the resistance against the infection by a pathogenic filamentous bacterium and a screening based on the sensitivity to salicylic acid is attempted on Arabidopsis lines capable of highly expressing rice full-length cDNA (rice-Arabidopsis FOX lines) which are prepared by using a FOX hunting system. As a result, it is successfully achieved to select one Arabidopsis line (line K15424) which has been selected in all of the three kinds of screening methods. Line K15424 has rice full-length cDNA. A rice plant capable of overexpressing AK070024 is produced, and the resistance of T1 generation of the rice plant against rice bacterial leaf blight is assayed. As a result, it is confirmed that the AK070024-overexpressing rice plant is resistant against both bacterial leaf blight and rice blast.
