The invention relates to a device (22) for separating a lighter liquid phase from a heavier liquid phase, preferably a processing liquid in a processing liquid tank (12), and comprises a separation tank (24) with firstly a separation chamber (30), in which there is placed a removably mounted oil collection container (40) with a closed bottom (45), and secondly an outlet chamber (32), to which cleaned processing liquid from the oil collection chamber (40) can flow via a communication opening (34) at the bottom of the separation tank (24) via a liquid trap (46, 52), and a pump arranged in the outlet chamber (32) in the separation tank (24) to pump cleaned processing liquid from the outlet chamber (32) to the processing liquid tank and at the same time creating a liquid level (62) in the cleaned processing liquid in the outlet chamber (32) which is lower than the liquid level (38) in the processing liquid tank (12) and lower than an upper inlet opening of a pipe (52) of the liquid trap. The invention also relates to a plant and a method for cleaning recirculating processing liquid, which is to be fed to at least one working machine (16), including the separation device (22) according to the invention.
