In a continuous casting mould for casting flat metal products, having a submerged nozzle with lateral discharge outlets, the mould being equipped on each of its large faces (3) with a pair of linear inductors generating a travelling magnetic field that travels horizontally over the width of said large face and placed on either side of the casting nozzle (5), this method of adjusting the stirring mode is characterized in that, since the inductors (10a to 11b) are mounted in pairs sliding vertically over the height of the mould, the casting process passes, by translational movement of said inductors, from a low stirring action position LS for assisting the incoming liquid metal jets, said position being located level with the discharge outlets (17) of the nozzle, to a high stirring action position HS for making the cast liquid metal rotate about the casting axis, said position being located level with the meniscus (9) of the liquid metal in the mould, and vice versa, and in that, upon passing from one position to the other, the connection of the inductors to the phases of the power supply (7) is modified so as to reverse the direction of travel of the magnetic field of only one of the two conductors of any one pair, and also that, among the two inductors of the other pair, which is symmetrical with respect to the casting axis.
