The invention relates to an operating device for a domestic appliance (1) with an operating element (17), which is designed for setting operating conditions of the domestic appliance (1) on operation, characterised in that the operating element (17) can move along a guide track (16) on the operating device (13) along which at least two different positions (21 to 26) are provided, at each of which at least one specific operating setting possibility for the domestic appliance (1) is defined. The positions (21 to 26) may be adopted by the operating element (17) for selecting the appropriate operating setting and the operating element (17) may also be rotated about the rotational axis (B) thereof for an operating setting, said axis running parallel to the guide track (16). The invention further relates to a domestic appliance with an operating device and a method for operating a domestic appliance with such an operating device.
