Provided is an artificial airway (2) comprising a tubular outer shell (4), a moisture permeable waterproof membrane (6) arranged on the entire circumference of the inner surface of the outer shell (4) in order to form a water retention area (10) between the outer shell (4) and to form an aeration area (12) on the inner surface side thereof, a water supply opening (14) provided in the outer shell (4) in order to supply water to the water retention area (10), a heater (8) arranged on the outside of the outer shell (4) so as to generate steam by heating water in the water retention area (10) and to warm the inhaled gas flowing through the aeration area (12), wherein the water supplied from the water supply opening (14) is held in the water retention area (10) by the moisture permeable waterproof membrane (6), only the steam produced by heating of the heater (8) passes through the moisture permeable waterproof membrane (6) and flows into the aeration area (12), warms and humidifies the inhaled gas flowing through the aeration area (12). Also provided is a breathing circuit equipped with the artificial airway (2).
