A core or foundry sand for the production of cores and casting moulds used in the processing of molten metal, consists of a foundry base material coated with a layer of wet bonding agent under a layer of water glass. The water glass content is in the range approx. 0.25% Wt. to 0.9% Wt. relative to the total weight of the core and foundry sand.
