The segment has two inner links arranged between two opposite outer links via through-openings (3.1) at connecting elements of successive segments, where the connecting elements are made of a wear-proof ceramic material. The inner links are made of stainless steel, bearing steel, alloyed steel or high-speed alloy steel. A cutting segment (5) is connected with upper edges (2.4) and flaps (2.2) of the outer links in a force-fit manner, and is wider than the segment in a running direction. Front surfaces (4.2) of the connecting elements form a plane with outer surfaces (2.3) of the outer links.
