The component (1), which is exposed to air or gas flow and is formed from plastic material so that the plastic material exists to part in the area of the surface of the component exposed to the flow is claimed. The plastic material has an erosion protection on the surface. The erosion protection comprises a multilayer system (2, 3) with metal layers and ceramic layers or two different hard ceramic layers. The multilayer system comprises a metal layer, a metal alloy layer, metal-ceramic-mixing layer and a ceramic layer and/or base material made of plastic. The plastic material has an erosion protection on the surface. The erosion protection comprises a multilayer system (2, 3) with metal layers and ceramic layers or two different hard ceramic layers. The multilayer system comprises a metal layer, a metal alloy layer, metal-ceramic-mixing layer and a ceramic layer and/or base material made of plastic. The metal-ceramic-mixing layer is formed as gradient layer with a portion of ceramics in the direction of the ceramic layer. The multilayer system comprises a diffusion barrier layer at the side to the component and/or between the layers of multilayer system. The multilayer system comprises a gradient chromium nitride layer as adhesive bonding layer with different hard ceramic layers on the side of the component to be protected. The multilayer system is directly applied on the plastic. The erosion protection comprises a first metallic layer that is provided as a layer deposited through steam-phase deposition, as a metal form part or a metal foil, as an adhesive metal form part or adhesive metal foil or an integrated metal foil, as a molded metal form part or a molded metal foil or as a laminated metal form part or a laminated metal foil. The plastic consists of polyetherketone, polyetheretherketone, particle-reinforced plastic, fiber-reinforced plastic, glass-reinforced plastic, carbon-reinforced plastic, high temperature resistant plastic or vacuum-resistant plastic. An independent claim is included for a method for the production of a component, which is exposed to air or gas flow.
