A refractory steel material is provided which has excellent high-temperature strength and includes a welded joint excellent in unsusceptibility to reheat embrittlement and toughness. The material is produced from a steel which has a room-temperature strength in the 400-600 N/mm2 class and contains, as main components: 0.010-0.05%, excluding 0.05%, carbon; 0.01-0.50% silica; 0.80-2.00% manganese; 0.50-2.00%, excluding 2.00%, chromium; 0.03-0.30% vanadium; 0.01-0.10% niobium; 0.001-0.010% nitrogen; and 0.005-0.10% aluminum. The steel has limited contents of nickel, copper, molybdenum, and boron, and the following elements satisfy the relationship 4Cr[%]-5Mo[%]-10Ni[%]-2Cu[%]-Mn[%]0.;COPYRIGHT KIPO & WIPO 2010
