THE COMPOSITION COMPRISING EXTRACTS OR FRACTIONS OF MAGNOLIA OBOVATA THUNB FOR TREATING AND PREVENTING INFLAMMATION DISEASE

PURPOSE: A composition containing Magnolia obovata Thunberg extract or its fraction for preventing and treating inflammatory diseases is provided to suppress the generation of nitric oxide(NO) induced by LPS(lipopolysaccharide) with low cytotoxicity. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and treating inflammatory disease contains Magnolia obovata Thunberg extract as an active ingredient. The Magnolia obovata Thunberg extract is isolated from fruit or flower bud of Magnolia obovata Thunberg using low alcohol or alcohol solution. Inflammatory disease are gastritis, colitis, arthritis, nephritis, hepatitis or degenerative disease. The Magnolia obovata Thunberg extract contains obovatol of chemical formula 1, honokiol of chemical formula 2, and magnolol of chemical formula 3. The composition for preventing and treating inflammatory diseases contains fraction of Magnolia obovata Thunberg extract. A method for fractioning Magnolia obovata Thunberg extract comprises: a step of adding organic solvent to Magnolia obovata Thunberg extract; a step of fractioning through silicagel column chromatography using ethylacetate and hexane, and a step of analyzing through thin film chromatography(ethylacetate and hexane in the ratio of 3:7).
