An apparatus and a method for analyzing performance of a modem, and a method for examining functions of the apparatus are provided to check up the performance of the modem and diagnose own functions by uploading and downloading modulated/demodulated signals and coded/encoded signals to analyze the signals. An incoming signal connector(300) receives modulated/demodulated signals and coded/decoded signals from a modem. An outgoing signal connector(400) transmits a standard signal generated from a host to the modem, so as to compare the performance of modems. A modem analysis processing unit(500) outputs the standard signal to the outgoing signal connector, and outputs modulated/demodulated signals or coded/decoded signals to the host. The host compares the modulated/demodulated signals or coded/decoded signals to the standard signal.
