PURPOSE: An apparatus for improving a picture of dark areas is provided to maintain or amplify a detailed range of an image in a dark place by compensating interval contraction and average movement.;CONSTITUTION: A luminance information detecting unit(200) includes an LPF(Low Pass Filter)(202), an subtracter(204) and a coring unit(206). The luminance information detection unit detects the information of an inputted brightness signal, and a gain control value generating unit(210) generates a gain control value of the brightness information detected from the luminance information detecting unit. A first multiplier(220) multiplies the gain control value by the brightness information, and an adder(230) adds the output signal of the first multiplier to the inputted brightness signal.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2010
