PURPOSE: A system and a method for providing an area code automatic setting service in a mobile communication network are provided to set up an areal code in a mobile terminal according to the position change of the mobile terminal.;CONSTITUTION: The handover of a mobile terminal is processed(S305), and it is checked based on the handover information of the mobile terminal whether or not the mobile terminal passes through the boundary region of the areal code(S309). When the mobile terminal passes through the boundary region, a switching center requests the automatic areal code setup for the mobile terminal from the areal code service server(S311). Then, the areal code is searched by using the handover information(S313).
