DIAGNOSIS OF HEPATITIS B VIRUS-INDUCED HEPATOCARCINOMA

PURPOSE: A method and kit for diagnosing liver cancer induced by HBV is provided to accurately and early diagnose liver cancer and progress possibility and metastasis. CONSTITUTION: A marker for HBV liver cancer is sialic acid transferase ST3Gal III, fucose transferase FUT III, fucose transferase FUT VII, beta-1-3 galactosyltransferase, or sialyl Lewis A. The detection of syalyl Lewis A is performed using sialyl Lewis A-specific antibody. A kit for diagnosing liver cancer contains a substrate or antibody of sialic acid tranferase ST3Gal III, fucose tranferase FUT III, fucose transferase FUT VII or beta1-3 galactosyl transferase; a primer or probe which specifically binds to nucleic acid encoding the proteins; or an antibody which specifically binds to sialyl Lewis A.
