PURPOSE: A simultaneous localization and mapping device for a robot and a method thereof are provided to increase the stability and accuracy of simultaneous localization and mapping by reducing nonlinear components.;CONSTITUTION: A simultaneous localization and mapping device for a robot comprises a conversion unit(201) and an updating unit(202). The conversion converts two dimension location of observed feature information into the three dimensional location.
