PURPOSE: A method of performing a mouse interface in a portable terminal and a portable terminal is provided to enable accurate touch input according to a mouse pointer by performing the mouse interface through a touch screen.;CONSTITUTION: When a mouse interface is executed, a control unit(120) splits the region of a touch screen(110) into a display region and a touch region. The control unit indicates a mouse pointer on a display region and displays the touch region as a touch pad mouse region. If there is a touch input in the touch region, the control unit moves the mouse pointer according to the touch input.
