PURPOSE: A combustion time discriminating method of a compression-ignition engine and an apparatus thereof are provided to control a direct injection type compression-ignition engine by analyzing the vibration signal of the engine block.;CONSTITUTION: A combustion time discriminating method of a compression-ignition engine comprises following steps. A block vibration signal which is generated by the combustion of an engine is measured(S101). After establishing a frequency domain(S102) to be analyzed in the block vibration, a wavelet scale is partitioned(S103). The successive wavelet transform is enabled on a wavelet scale(S104), and the return value is extracted according to the time.
