PURPOSE: A method for ECG compression and decompression in bio-signals monitoring system are provided to effectively use a bandwidth in a wireless network by making it possible to compress and transmit electrocardiogram data without a distortion in the characteristics.;CONSTITUTION: A wavelet coefficient is extracted through a wavelet lifting conversion of electrocardiogram data. Tri vectors are formed by using a hierarchical relation of the wavelet coefficient. The tri vectors comprise the number of the wavelets of an upper band and also the number of the wavelets of a lower band. The wavelet tri vectors are vector-quantized. A wavelet tri vector, which is a subject of vector-quantization, is stored in the higher index of a code book. The electrocardiogram data is restored through a wavelet reverse conversion of a restored tri vector. A final electrocardiogram signal is restored by combining a vector-quantization error and a code book wavelet tri vector.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2010
