PURPOSE: A method for saving power based on a motion sensor and a mobile terminal using the same are provided to use a portable terminal for a long time even though a user does not frequently charge a battery when using the portable terminal based on a motion sensor.;CONSTITUTION: A storage unit(140) stores a motion recognition program, and a sensor unit generates a signal for initiating or terminating the driving of the motion recognition program according to a decision to sense an input or not.
