PURPOSE: An external storage for a blu-ray player and a method for the use of an external storage in a blu-ray player are provided to actively reflect the connection state of an external storage device during the execution of a blu-ray application.;CONSTITUTION: An application execution code recorded on a blue-ray disc is loaded and an application is executed(S120). A monitoring API(Application Programming Interface) about the external storage is created using the executed application(S140). The monitoring API transmits a monitoring request to a controller of the external storage. The controller enables a storage memory monitoring function. According to the monitoring function, the creation of an event related to the storage memory is sensed(S160). The controller transmits the event creation to the monitoring API.
