PURPOSE: A method of controlling a heat pump for producing hot water is provided to enable hot water to be smoothly supplied through a bypass unit. CONSTITUTION: A method of controlling a heat pump for producing hot water comprises a heat pump unit, a heat source unit, a load unit, a sensing unit, a bypass unit, a storage, a controller, and an input unit. The sensing unit senses the state of the heat pump unit, the heat source unit, and the load unit. The sensing unit comprises a unit temperature sensor, an inlet temperature sensor bypassing the load, an outlet temperature sensor bypassing the load, and an outlet temperature sensor bypassing the heat source. An input signal from at least one of the sensing unit and the input unit is sensed(S10). An operating mode is determined based on the sensed signal and the operating mode data(S20). The determined operating mode is performed(S30).
