PURPOSE: A digital satellite broadcasting receiver and a program guide information receiving method using the receiver are provided to allow a viewer to easily search and view current and future broadcasting programs on a screen without using a separate guide medium. CONSTITUTION: A digital satellite broadcasting receiver includes a multi-switching unit(103), a main unit(110), and a plurality of sub units(120). The multi-switching unit segments an RF digital satellite broadcasting signal into a plurality of signals and outputs the segmented signals through respective paths. The main unit receives the plurality of satellite signals output from the multi-switching unit, respectively tunes the signals to specific channels and demodulates the signals to output transport signals. The main unit stores program guide information and transmits the information when a specific sub unit requests the main unit to transmit the program guide information. The plurality of sub-units are respectively installed in independent spaces and do not include a satellite tuner. The sub units receive the transport signals from the main unit, descramble, decode and display the signals. The sub units receive the program guide information from the main unit.
