FIELD: physics.;SUBSTANCE: following operations are carried out when determining relative coefficient of inter-channel mass exchange in a rod bundle. An air stream is pumped through channels of the rod bundle. A gaseous chemical tracer is released into the channel of the rod bundle. Samples are taken from the air stream at different points along the channels of the rod bundle using a selection probe. The samples are fed into a sample analysis system and pumped through a halogen leak detector. Concentration of the tracer in the sample is determined from readings of the measurement unit of the halogen leak detector on a calibration characteristic. Relative concentration of the tracer in the channels of the bundle is calculated, as well as the average relative concentration of the tracer in rows of identical channels of the bundle, corresponding to identical cross sections of its flow part. Relative length of the characteristic section of the rod bundle is determined from ratios taking into account relative length of the channels of the bundle, on which the tracer moves out and back into the initial channel of the beam, and the relative step of periodic variation of orientation of the cross section of the rods. The relative coefficient of inter-channel mass exchange within the characteristic section of the rod bundle is determined from approximate relationships taking into account relative concentration of the tracer in the initial channel of the bundle, average relative concentration of the tracer in two rows of the bundle respectively and distance from the section for releasing the tracer into the channel of the bundle to the inlet and outlet cross sections of the characteristic section of the bundle respectively.;EFFECT: invention increases accuracy of determining relative coefficient of inter-channel mass exchange in rod bundles.;7 cl, 1 ex
