METHOD OF MAKING LONG-PERIOD FIBRE GRATING

摘要

FIELD: physics.;SUBSTANCE: method provides formation of a periodic structure with varying thickness on the surface of fibre glass. The fibre is vertically immersed in an organic polymer solution in an organic solvent with 5-30% polymer concentration in the solution and containing a suspension of inorganic nanoparticles with concentration of 1-5%. The fibre is vertically extracted from the solution at a rate of at least 1 cm/s, dried and annealed in two-steps in air. The first step is carried out at polymer oxidation and thermal decomposition temperature. The second step is carried out at melting or sintering temperature of inorganic nanoparticles which is not higher than softening point of the material of the fibre. The method provides formation of corrugations with period between 100 mcm and 2 mm on fibre glass with diametre of 50-300 mcm.;EFFECT: simple technology, wide range of materials used and lower cost of manufacturing equipment.;1 dwg
