FIELD: transport.;SUBSTANCE: aircraft engine shaft supports the propeller, the engine with propeller being installed not in the model but ahead of it, on α-mechanism platform that allows a synchronous displacement of the model and engine with propeller so that mutual position does not vary at varying angles of attack. Model aerodynamic damping characteristics are determined by the "works" methods that proceeds from the equality of variation in kinetic energy of revolving flywheel per one revolution and works of aerodynamic forces and friction forces in revolving assemblies of test unit per period of model oscillations. Tests are performed with the model oscillating at constant amplitude and time-varying frequency. Proposed device has the model and engine with propeller, the engine with propeller being installed on α-mechanism platform that allows a synchronous displacement of the model and engine with propeller so that mutual position does not vary at varying angles of attack.;EFFECT: higher accuracy of measurements, lower labor input.;4 cl, 1 dwg
