The method involves executing a planing process on a hollow body (100) with a constant material thickness by using a planar (300.2) for producing an area (204) of a working edge of a doctor blade with reduced material thickness, where the base body has a rectangular cross-sectional surface at a longitudinal direction of the body. A separation process is executed in the area after the planing process, such that doctor blade channels lying adjacent to each other are separated. The separation process takes place through laser or water-jet, and the area is reworked by rounding and/or polishing. An independent claim is also included for a doctor blade comprising a reduced material thickness in an area of a working edge.
