The method involves marking an eye to operated, or a virtual representation of the eye. Cornea (101) and a capsular bag of the eye are opened. A to be replaced lens (104) is removed from the capsular bag. An artificial interocular lens is inserted into the opened capsular bag. The artificial interocular lens is positioned by adjusting alignment of the interocular lens using angular and lateral positions of the interocular lens obtained by the image-guided surgery, using electronically generated position marks and using real-time image of the eye viewed by a surgeon. An independent claim is also included for a device for performing a method for positioning an artificial interocular lens.
