The valve (1), to limit or stop or control the pressure in brake systems or motor fuel supply systems, has a flow channel (13) e.g. for fuel opening into a valve seat (10). A closure ball (11) is pressed against the seat by a spring (16). The ball material, against the seat, has a maximum density of 2 g/cm 3and when dropped from a height of 10 cm on to a solid steel plate at room temperature it rebounds by a maximum of 50% of the drop height.
