The arrangement (1) has two axial angular contact bearings (5, 6) prestressed against each other for a shaft section (2) of a gear shaft, in which a surface is partially provided with a surface coating at a cut surface that is influenced by an axial play of the arrangement. The layer thickness of the coating is less than 9 micrometer in a new state. The layer thickness is same or smaller than a surface roughness of the coated surface. The coating is formed between rear sides (26) at a shaft shoulder of the gear shaft that supports side surfaces (22) of inner rings (13) of the bearings.
