The protection element has an inner hollow element i.e. pipe- or tubular element, whose inner cross-section is adapted to a seat belt (40) such that the seat belt is internally realizable by the protection element. A connecting section is provided at a lower end of the protection element, and is formed such that a connecting region between the protection element and a belt retractor (50) or a mounting plate (20) is shielded against intrusion of foreign particles. The seat belt is guided in direction of the retractor by the mounting plate. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement comprising a seat belt.
